Sharpsburg is a town in Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson Counties. It is part of the Rocky Mount, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,405 in 2008.

Cumberland County School system is the 5th largest school district in NC with a total enrollment of 52,729 students and an operating budget of $430 million. Fayetteville, NC is the county seat.
